Welcome Back to 2026 – A Great Start for Our Kura
It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back for 2026 and to see our tamariki returning with smiles, energy, and readiness to learn. The positive start to the year has been fantastic, and it has been lovely reconnecting with whānau and welcoming new families into our Foxton Beach Kura.
We are especially pleased to share that this week we have had 95% of our roll attending school each day, an outstanding start to the year and something worth celebrating.
When attendance sits around 95% daily, it means children are on track to meet regular attendance across the year, giving them the best opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
Attendance is a national priority and a clear focus for our kura in 2026. Our goal is to have 80% of all our children attending school regularly across the year, and this strong beginning shows what is possible when we all work together. Thank you for supporting routines at home and making school attendance a priority. Let’s keep this momentum going, every day matters.
Celebrating Our Community
We were very fortunate to have Mayor Bernie visit our senior school to personally thank our Road Patrollers for the important role they play in keeping our roads safe. He presented umbrellas and water bottles as a token of appreciation, a wonderful acknowledgement of their leadership in supporting our tamariki to get safely to and from school.
A big mihi also to Kuia Anne Watson for supporting our Mihi Whakatau and helping us warmly welcome new whānau to Foxton Beach Kura. We are so pleased you are here and hope you enjoy your time with us.
Summer Swimming
Our tamariki enjoyed their first swims in the school pool yesterday. There were plenty of smiles! Swimming will continue while the weather remains warm, giving our children the opportunity to build confidence and water skills.
A Milestone Year
2026 is a special year for our kura as we celebrate 75 years of Foxton Beach School. We have lots of exciting moments planned and look forward to celebrating this milestone together as a community.
If you are interested in being part of the committee to help support and organise these celebrations, please speak with Chloe Davy or contact her via email at community@foxtonbeach.school.nz. We would love to have whānau involved in making this a memorable year for our school.
Closure Reminder – Monday 9 March 2026 (Curriculum Day)
As a gentle reminder, Foxton Beach School will be closed on Monday 9 March 2026 for a Ministry of Education-directed Curriculum Day.
Whānau will recall that a notification was sent out on 15 January during the school holidays, and we are sharing this again to ensure everyone has plenty of time to plan.
This day is part of the nationwide rollout of the new Mathematics Curriculum, with our teaching team participating in professional learning alongside other schools in our Kāhui Ako. As staff will be off-site for this training, the school will not be open for students.
Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support as we continue to strengthen teaching and learning for our tamariki.
Epic Concert Experience
Our tamariki had a fantastic time attending the Epic Concert this morning. It was a high-energy, engaging performance that had the children singing along, clapping, and fully immersed in the joy of live music. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and enthusiastic responses throughout the show.
Children will be coming home with some information about the opportunity to take part in music lessons in 2026, for families who may be interested. This is a great chance for students to explore instruments, build confidence, and develop their love of music.
Thank you for supporting these enriching experiences that bring learning to life for our learners.

School Closure 9th March 2026 - Curriculum Day
Foxton Beach School will be closed on Monday, 9th March, for a Ministry of Education-directed Curriculum Day.
As part of the nationwide rollout of the new Mathematics Curriculum, all schools are required to take two professional learning days in 2026.. We’ve been fortunate to be accepted for professional development alongside several other schools in our Kahui Ako, and this will be the first of our two scheduled days.
Our teaching team will be off-site participating in this important learning, and as a result, the school will not be open for students on that day.
Thank you for your support as we continue to strengthen our teaching practice and provide the best learning experiences for our tamariki.
